Gumbo Limbo (Bursera simaruba)
The Gumbo Limbo, a tropical tree native to the southeastern United States, is an ornamental tree that provides excellent shade. It can grow from 50-60 feet in height with strong, massive branches and a rounded crown of leaves. The oblong leather-like leaves are bright green on top and paler on the bottom. The dark red fruit is attractive to mockingbirds and other birds in the summer and fall months. This tree is noted for being one of the most wind-resistant trees available.
