Alexander Palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae)
The Alexander Palm is an ornamental palm tree that is extremely desirable in Florida and tropical regions all around the world. The tree gets its name from the former queen of England and wife of King Edward VII. This tree has a slender, smooth trunk which reaches between 40-60 feet and the fronds are self-cleaning with leaves that are bright green on top and silver-white on the bottom. These leaves can grow up to 7 feet long and arch vertically giving the tree its graceful, elegant appearance. While young trees require partial sun, mature trees can take full sun and are moderately drought tolerant.
