Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera)
The Coconut Palm is the most recognizable and best known of the more than 1500 species in the palm family and is considered to be one of the most useful trees in the world. The single branched trunk can reach 80-100 feet and is crowned with a canopy of 20 feet long arching leaves. The trunk frequently leans due to the affects of wind, erosion, and sandy soil.
